It’s time for a bootleg today!
It has been a long time since I reviewed one of those unusual bootleg types, so I’m glad to present you something rather new for the page. I’m talking about the “year bootleg” style: basically, the artist chooses a famous track of 2-3 years ago and rework it in an unofficial way. It’s a bootleg, in few words, with the small detail that the selected track is slightly old, so it’s usually something interesting. This time is “Heads Will Roll”, released in 2015 (A-Trak version).
The artists involved, apart from Yeah Yeah Yeahs and A-Trak, are Declain and K&K, from Germany. I really love Declain style, he’s usually creating nice remixes (I reviewed his “Everybody” rework) while the duo is an interesting discovery!
So, why I’m reviewing this bootleg?
Basically because of the nice idea and the super drop!
In a nice and powerful big room style, the three producers managed to entertain me with a classic track full of new elements… That’s why I love this kind of bootlegs: it’s always nice to find some surprises in an already known song!
For example, the break has been reworked in a trap way, adding hit-hats and 808 and making it more “2017s”. Lovely idea, I consider it fresh and creative. Then, we have the classic drop, but with a smooth transition, we arrive at the REAL drop! It’s kinda dark progressive, with a big room lead, and I really enjoyed it!
So, with a mix of creative ideas, technical skills, and talent, Declain and K&K dropped something amazing. Once again, I’m not disappointed!
