Crystal Lake – Roots (Blasterjaxx Edit)

I’m almost tired to proclaim this, but once again: new banger out on Maxximize!
“Roots” is the new Crystal Lake single, edited by the good guys Blasterjaxx.

I have usually a lot of difficulties while reviewing edits, because it’s not clear who made what and how much the Dutch duo influenced the Israelian duo…

The Crystal Lake style is hard there, but it seems like that Blasterjaxx worked on the main lead and maybe in the break chords… That’s my guess, but I think that 80% of the work is by this fantastic hardstyle duo!

“Roots” immediately slaps the face with a big room\hardstyle drop (if you follows Crystal Lake, you are already used to that). I found it extremely aggressive and catchy, although the melody is not particularly complex the energy released is stunning. The hardstyle influence is obvious here, and I think that those two style work well together. It’s like fries and ketchup: Crystal Lake drop is the “fries”, but Blasterjaxx added that cool amount of ketchup to make it even stronger! Loved it!

The break is interesting, and once again the hardstyle influence is high. It starts slowly, adding some climax with a hypnotic melody and some crazy orchestral elements. God, I loved those violins! I would have like an hardstyle vocal there, it would have been fantastic! After a while, some vocal distortion and some slow but massive saws begin, and take us to the second drop.

I recommend it, it has a cooler melody and it’s my favorite part of “Roots”!

In conclusion, for me, “Roots” is an awesome song! Crystal Lake and Blasterjaxx are definitively a nice combination, and I’m happy to see that the result has already gained a lot of success!
