Wildvibes, Impress Me In 46 Seconds.

August 12, 20178 min read

I am really proud of my musical instinct.
During the years, I became really good in understanding if a certain artist has the right skills to become successful, just listening to a couple of his productions. I “discovered” (or better, I was a fan since the beginning) important people like Olly James, Dubvision, Blasterjaxx, knowing since the first time that they were able to make great things.

When someone of this “special personal category” makes a new hit, I become really proud and happy. It’s like watching a young guy growing and achieving his objectives, knowing that I always believed in him.

Today I would like to talk about one of my favorite artists in that special section of my mind. A guy that with a short preview of a remix immediately shocked me with his style.

Wildvibes.

Wouter Postelmans is extremely young. Born in 1999, the Belgian talent started producing in 2012, after falling in love with Tomorrowland sets. His first “real” productions (available online) are 2 years old… Basically, he was 15 when he developed a unique and professional signature sound! Well, not a surprising thing nowadays (Martin Garrix released “Animals” when 16), but that’s still very important and impressive.
You will see it in few minutes.

Anyway, about two years ago I was surfing Soundcloud, looking for some good music. I don’t really remember how I found his remix, but I am sure about the reasons I clicked on the link. Wildvibes edited “New Life” by Bobby Rock and Cimo Frankel, a lovely progressive song, released via Protocol Recordings.

I really liked the original (I suggest to check it out, to see the difference), so I was curious to see if the remix was interesting.

46 seconds.
That’s how much time it took to make me think “God, that’s the perfection”.

This 15 years old guy had just dropped something incredible. He didn’t even change the melody, he just added his unique bassline, his crazy lead, and this bootleg, since that day, become one of my favorites progressive tracks ever. I still play it sometimes, because I simply love that drop. I know it’s a question of tastes, but you must notice how Wildvibes easily improved a track made by professional producers with years of experience. That drop was POWERFUL. The simpleness of the idea is shocking: just adding a little bit of his style, Wouter transformed a splendid tune into a masterpiece. The only explanation is talent.

I saved it on my phone, and I signed this name in my mind.

During the next months, I followed this guy, loving every release, every progressive gem he dropped. Until a day, some months ago, when I had the honor to know him, thanks to a review of his “Memories” remix.

He loved my review (which was written in a bad way, I was still a beginner, but very genuine), and we started talking. From that moment I discovered how Wildvibes is a kind and lovely person. Humble, friendly, always positive, and super talented.

I was amazed by his kindness (he helped me and a lot of people in difficulties) and how he is in love with progressive house. He was always working hard, developing his unique style with passion and love. Probably one of the nicest person I’ve encountered in the EDM scene.

This is my favorite quote from Wildvibes, a short phrase that can summarize an aspect of him that the majority of his fans don’t know: humbleness.

It’s important to me underlining this aspect of Wildvibes because you need to know that every track of him is made with just passion, without greediness or any desire to be famous.

I am proud to say that I believed in him since that “New Life” bootleg, and seeing him achieving important objectives (supported by Hardwell, Tiesto, The Chainsmokers) makes me incredibly happy because I knew it, and, very important, I am sure he deserves them. I don’t want to talk about the background of his releases, this article is already too long, but I will do it one day, that’s a promise!

Anyway, now he’s 18 years old, and I decided to ask him 5 questions. That’s the most important interview for me at the moment because Wildvibes he’s potentially a future progressive star.

1. So, how did you start producing music? Were you influenced by a certain artist or person?

My biggest influence was Swedish House Mafia, they were playing at Tomorrowland and their performance gave me goosebumps. Their melodies, harmonic and rhythm skills are just insane. Personally I think that there is more passion for music in my body than blood…

2. What’s your most important track, in term of affection and/or importance?

For me, it was my remix of Alan Walker (Alone). I gave it a totally new dimension in comparison with the original one.

3. What’s your favorite song at the moment and why?

Jochen Miller & Kerano – United is still one of my favorite ones. The energy in this drop is unreal. I would rate it 93\100, even if with a vocal the rating should have become 100\100!

4. Do you have any advice to the producers out there? Or a message?

Yes, I do, never give up on your dreams. Remember that hard work always pays off. I had a pretty hard start couple years ago because no one believed in me. That’s the point where I actually “locked” myself in, into my bedroom for over 2 years. Always look to the bright side of life and enjoy this beautiful life.

5. What are your future plans?

Just doing my own thing, really hope I can make a living out of making music. And sharing my passion and love for music to the world.

That’s the end. It’s an honor for me writing those words. Happy birthday Wouter!
