KSHMR ft. Jake Reese – Carry Me Home

June 18, 20182 min read

75/100

• Catchy and lovely production, with apparently Avicii vibes
• The structure is slightly predictable, but manages to entertain
• Excellent vocal by Jake Reese, a great performance!

It’s not sure if “Carry Me Home” is a personal tribute to Avicii, but the feeling is that the happy and summerish breaks blink an eye to the deceased Swedish legend.

The brand new Dharma Worldwide release is from the boss himself, with the singer Jake Reese. Reese is not a new name, many of you may know him because of the huge “Mad World” with Hardwell, while KSHMR… No introductions needed, we hope.

The Indian-American star delivered a slightly Pop-oriented tune with an heavy progressive influence. It’s not a surprise actually, this style has been used various times in the past. Even though “Carry Me Home” is without any doubt an enjoyable song, the overall reaction has been lukewarm.

We agree with fans.

KSHMR has gotten us used to so many hits that a “just good” song, compared with the rest, clashes in a strange way. A 75/100 is a fair rating. We feel that his usual quality and class persists, but “Carry Me Home” could have been more unpredictable and interesting.

Our favourite part is the lovely break, with the Jake Reese vocal and a catchy guitar. As said before, the structure reminds us of Avicii style, and it’s a beautiful idea! The happy and positive mood of this release fits well with the hot weather of this period, making it a possible summer radio hit.

The two artists worked well, and we are afraid to not give a higher rating, but we need to be honest. “Carry Me Home” stands out from many other summer tracks, but it doesn’t bring that “KSHMR spark” we love. It could be a Guetta, Martin Garrix or Hardwell song, and we shouldn’t be able to notice the artist’s touch in any case.

Anyway, “Carry Me Home” will surely light up your summer with its sweet and catchy mood. Taking a look at it is really recommended, we definitely enjoyed it!
