• Carta’s debut on Rave Culture
• Energetic, however lacking experimentation

This article induces nostalgia for me, since Rave Culture happened to be the first label I reviewed in this blog. As we all know, W&W’s label has catapulted to the Big Room scene with a string of successful releases such as “Rave Love” or “Feel It”. The renowned producer Carta’s hiatus breaker to Electro House is a dream come true for many loyal fans awaiting. Now, he’s finally here with a stunning tune in honour to his native country.
First of all, “Liang” translates to “luminance” in Chinese, abiding to the track’s energetic approach. This is noticeable from the first steps, with an easily recognizable melody which is ardent and motivating enough to be designated as a workout anthem (knowing the current situation we are passing through).
The fact that the melody adheres to the same pattern all over can be annoying to some, and enjoyable to others. My mixed feelings came back here as well, but that is how this genre operates. Anyways, it’s commonplace structure leads to a stunning drop possessed by hammering kick-drums, pleasing my expectations.
And after an amazing synth before the drop pauses, a minimal version in tune with an euphoric build-up captivated me. Not at all expected for this to happen, as this is entertaining and a refreshing variation to the production.
Carta undoubtedly shines with a sturdy Big Room number serving as his debut on the mentioned imprint. This could be a gem for many in the fan-base, but the dearth of experimentation and newer ideas is a step further away. All things aside, the reputed act is back at his fullest, as we anticipate more such heaters!
