Today I am talking about David Gravell, who in my opinion has definitely made an unforgettable impact in the modern trance industry. With his driven tech basslines and beautiful evolving melodies, his tracks always impressed me.
However, I would cut short my lengthy appreciation and justify how his latest production definitely needs a listen. The track is entitled “Addicted To” and symbolically represents how trance genre can be a very big addiction for all “Trancers”.

This track was premiered by W&W as NWYR in Ultra Miami, earlier this year. Instantly fans were intrigued and assumed that it was perhaps a collaboration between NWYR and David Gravell. However, “Addicted To” wasn’t a NWYR collab at all! It was the sheer capability of David Gravell to replicate the sounds of the famous duo and even equip his signature sounds to make it sound like as if it was a momentous collaboration.

“Addicted To” initiates with a lot of groove and intense as it rolls with the kick, and a tech bassline underneath rumbling to give a rushed effect. Synth shots and risers are supplemented alongside to give more kinetic. The snare percussions come in to add more groove, finally letting the vigorous drop hit with full intensity.

The first electro drop hits with momentum, brimming a mood full of stamina and toughness. As usual, a part of the super saw version of the melody has been added complementarily. This idea makes the electro drop more vivid and nonetheless, even more attention catching.

The first drop subsidies to the epic breakdown that follows.

The breakdown features a trancy pluck playing out the melody, but not with full capacity. Eventually, a deep, slightly robotic voice comes up which talks a bit about addictions, perfectly setting up the atmosphere. The pluck meanwhile distorts and fades away to comes back with full power, with razor-sharp super saw synth playing out in alternate. A total moment of uplifting epicness! Finally, it gets calm before the riser, introducing a grand piano playing out few notes… Only to subside to the riser which with perfect timing and pace, lets the final climax drop hit with impact.

The final drop surprised me even more! With an acid mid electro bassline as NWYR used in their track “Voltage”, going along with the super saws, we have a perfect desired combination! This drop was perhaps the reason people assumed “Addicted To” as a NWYR collaboration.

A perfect conclusion to this nuclear track would be that my words are limited for masterpiece like this. Only a listen would justify you of the grandiose power of modern trance!
