Sorry, Hardwell EPs, sorry “Materia” EP, but “Power” is my favorite track by both Hardwell and KSHMR in 2017.

Don’t misunderstand this high rating with being a fan of them. I was going to give a 92 to “Power” even if there was written “The Chainsmokers” on the cover. Well, wait, maybe not, I would probably have complained about the lack of their signature style in the song, but you got the point.

“Power” is great, exactly what I wanted from such two legendary producers. It gave me goosebumps, and as you should know, goosebumps equal a 90+ rating.

First of all, let’s consider the vocal. I don’t know the singer’s name, but I hope that one day he will read those words: you are awesome. WHAT A FREAKING VOCAL. It’s the first of the two cherries on the top of “Power” and a huge add-on to the crazy base.

Then let’s make a quick analysis. Break by KSHMR, bassline by Hardwell, lead by KSHMR (similar to “Secrets” one), melody from both, song’s scheme by Hardwell. It slightly seems to be more a KSHMR track from the mood, but I would guess 55% by him, and 45% by the Dutch producer.

There is no need to explain well the track, I would like to focus on why it’s so special for me. I read some critics, saying that it’s generic, it’s nothing special, it’s uncreative. I don’t care if they are true or false, it’s important for me.

The second cherry, the “goosebumps moment” from me, is exactly at 1.55. The second part of the second drop. We have a rewind effect, a “Power” pre-drop vocal, and then majestic lead starts in such an elegant way that (trust me) I had to stop the track and recover for some seconds. The simple pre-drop one shout charged me in an indescribable way, then the lead made the rest.

I’m pretty sure you won’t feel the same emotions, maybe”Power” means nothing to you (and that’s okay and normal!), but I hope you can enjoy it as much as I did.
