I’ve left Madness Boys two years ago, and after all that time I’m glad to see them back with a totally fresh sound! The Portuguese duo has released a few Big Room bangers on underground labels such as Ensis and Madox Network, and they evidently rebranded their style because “THIS IS ACID” is quite a peculiar comeback to the scenes.

I’m not an expert of Acid Techno so my review may be seen as generic, but I’m just stating what my guts are telling me. “THIS IS ACID“ focuses on giving an eerie, distorted experience, like a bad trip going wrong. From the ominous vocal to the sudden pauses and background elements in the drop, everything blends together in an unpredictable explosion of different sensations. I may dare a comparison with Maddix’s Techno lead here, even though I don’t know many other similar artists. With an hard-hitting combination of the aforementioned lead and a brutal bassline, the drop gave me a massive first impression! I’m used to faster melodies, but I had a lot of fun with the pattern.

Overall, the experience leaves a note of satisfaction for the excellent schema that has been created by Madness Boys, and may leave a chance for Acid Techno to be included in my personal roster of genres for reviews. While starting to explore this new world, I feel safe to suggest “THIS IS ACID” for EDM explorers like me.
