Valentino Khan X Deorro – ¡MAS CRAZY!

January 31, 20232 min read

• Khan’s bassline with Deorro’s lead
• Long buildup replaces proper breakdown
• Plain formula, exactly as expected

It was only a matter of time after that resounding B2B set at Escape 2022: Deorro and Valentino Khan are proudly presenting “¡MAS CRAZY!”, a delightful festival explosive with 50/50 proportions on their signatures. I was craving such an interesting association, so excuse me for the excitement!

Deorro has released one album, “ORRO” and “Reflect” (EP) in the last year, exploring a deeper side of his personality. The Mexican creator is not new to switching between his typical Bounce (still there in a couple of surprises like “Mirrors” and “Napoleona”), and more introspective releases. Valentino Khan has experimented with calmer settings in “Tidal Wave”, but his Tech House is fresher than ever thanks to several powerful records in 2022.

Their mutual creation begins with a long buildup, then shows a spectacular sway between Deorro’s lead, Khan’s basslines, and a thumping kick with a high-pitched vocal to spice things up. The breakdown was absent, something that bothered me, as the central segment was just another extended transition. But then another Deorro sequence makes it a bouncy acquaintance, and techy bassline represents a perfect companion!

“¡MAS CRAZY!” functions on a simpler convention, although the drop works effectively as the duo has charismatic sounds to mix. I would have hoped for more efforts regarding the breakdown, as the buildup didn’t leave me anything after the final listen. Expect great mashups with this one!
