Ericovich – God Is A Girl

July 4, 20223 min read

• Similar to W&W’s version, but bouncier
• Melbourne bounce and Italodance influences
• Minimal yet equally robust

If I were you, I would immediately take a mental note of the name: Ericovich. Even if slightly intricately spelled alias, more importantly, this Spanish producer knows how to do his work dutifully.

Discovering him via the “Enemy”,cover of the “Arcane League of Legends” soundtrack, I took a trip to his artist page and checked further discography. There are plenty of interesting Slap House and Trap releases, often infused with surprising influences (the vocal in ‘Nandemonaiya’ is particularly lovely). Certainly, at this point, he enters into the bustling category of ‘gaming music’, where NCS has reigned supreme as a business, offering ample Dubstep or bounce-y House music with captivating vocals to enamor the fanbase.

Now, I have a decent opening to talk about Ericovich’s newest work: “God Is A Girl”. You may know about the Eurodance original from Groove Coverage, or more so in the recent times when W&W gave it a re-work. Yet, this version deserves a mention solely for its originality. The producer implemented an extreme bassline, emphasizing the Italodance vibes in a classic format, without exceeding the usual cliches done by modern bounce genre records.

The vocal remains intensely passionate: I was already sold from the first moments. Afterward the low-end, a straightforward affair, employs a Melbourne Bounce kick, the usual vocal chops, and a double kick towards the ending. I felt I was whisked back to the 2010s when acts like Timmy Trumpet were engaging the crowds by releasing a similar style (instead of the random ideas nowadays). There was a hope that this version would bring forth more twists in the melodic hook since it sounded a lot familiar, while W&W altered it slightly to fit their remix idea, but one can’t have it all.

This rendition of “God Is A Girl” is as brisk, agile, and bouncy as ever, and trust me, it’s packed with fun. Taking a minimalist route, Ericovich smashed the Groove Coverage’s hit for the modern dancefloors!
