With a lot more noteworthy tracks released from the likes of Firebeatz, Martin Garrix, Riot Ten & Crankdat, and more, the thirty-first edition of Weekly Roundup has plenty of material to cover!
Martin Garrix, Justin Mylo, Dewain Whitmore – Find You
80/100
In a recent string of collaborative efforts with his musician colleagues, STMPD label-head Martin Garrix teamed with Justin Mylo and vocalist Dewain Whitmore for “Find You”, which settles for a memorable progressive sound.
Livened up by the vocal, the instrumental stays true to the fashion of anthem-like melodic riffs attributable to Garrix’s signature, played over by uplifting synths. An instant favorite for most!
Maddix – Culture
78/100
Further experimenting with peak-time driving techno structure, Dutch alias Maddix’s “Culture” is, as you would expect”, aggressive and gritty.
Playful pluck sounds frolic over a hurtling kick-drum beat and synthesized hi-hats, further bringing a sentimental touch to the breakdown with arpeggios. All set for kick-starting a rave!
Matt Kel, Jonny Spalding – Therapy
80/100
Paying an ode to 90s euphoric trance, promising acts Jonny Spalding and Matt Kel decided to pool their creative merits for “Therapy”.
Initially, this is an original production that was featured on the “Community” EP that arrived last year from the “Hole In My Heart” creator. Matt Kel, an upcoming talent, shows off his musical fortitude with his trademark trance presence, as the song progresses at a faster pace and with rich cadence reminiscent of classics from the aforementioned genre.
Shingo Nakamura – Focus
83/100
Japan’s renowned and demanded name in the progressive house scene, Shingo Nakamura, has deservingly found his place on Monstercat. “Focus” is his latest endeavor, a sublime production.
Spacious and serene aura greets the ear right from the start, with a soft arp carrying a dreamy groove. Perfect for an evening’s walk or a long night’s drive!
Firebeatz – Don’t Stop Moving
77/100
Nothing beats the zesty iconic M1 organ on a house beat. Firebeatz’s newest discography additive “Don’t Stop Moving” brings all classic ingredients into one song: the resonating and plucky synth, soulful vocals, and a flowing bassline.
Riot Ten & Crankdat – Own The Night
79/100
After their explosive anniversary special remix of “No Beef” from Afrojack and Steve Aoki, duo Riot Ten & Crankdat have channeled the same chaotic energy into “Own The Night”.
Slashing dubstep synths dominate the stage, as short and restless breakdowns in between only create a surge of rush towards this frenzy drop sequences.
Bonus
Ghastly – Smoke (feat. Madalen Duke)
77/100
The Dubstep producer has particularly impressed us with an experimental idea, featuring an intriguing vocal by Madalen Duke. With such a fascinating drop, which plays around with unique vocal chops and a muffled atmosphere, “Smoke” has a lot to bring to the table: the strongest point, for us, is the sublime work on the buildup, very effective with building up the climax.
Onur Ormen & Faruk Orman – Bounce
75/100
Exotic vocals for an hypnotic Slap House capable of exploring the boundaries of the genre! The drop hits hard with a bouncy structure, leaving some minimalism for valorizing the excellent performance of the vocalist. “Bounce” is an interesting twist of the usual schematics!
