• Yes, it’s “Thunder”
• Same vocal, different lyrics
• A change in a few notes
This is it. Blasterjaxx managed to end my patience with their constant releases. It was an announced disaster, since their ratio holds up to a staggering 9 days between each song, certainly unhealthy to their quality. There are multiple examples of this case, ranging from R3HAB, MOTi, and other bands of producers who decide to release for the sake of it.
This time it’s notable, as I am an admirer of Prezioso for ages now, who is a star in the Italian dance panorama. Before the explosion of this “Slappy Bounce” style brought upon by former Eiffel 65 brainchild Gabry Ponte (a colleague to the mentioned celebrity) and LUM!X, he had a fantastic program on radio playing a lot of amusing mashups and a few releases. I liked how he didn’t prefer to sell out, yet brought what he did for years to the fans that are now intrigued by his performances.
After the huge success that “Thunder” amassed, Prezioso has returned, together with the synergy featuring Blasterjaxx, LIZOT (an unfamiliar name for me with 5 million monthly listeners, involved in making similar Bounce), and Shibui at the vocal department.
What a dream team, if you think about it, which could make use of the massive expertise that Blasterjaxx has in their genre, with two of the major aliases in this new wave spectrum. The old and the new together.. but all leading to a failed attempt towards something unexpectedly bad.
Here, we have precisely “Thunder” with different lyricism (not vocal, lyrics!) and a few notes switched to display surface-level ingenuity. I have never felt as disappointed with the Dutch veteran duo, who despite having their ups and downs, never resorted to something so mundane and passive.
“Hurricane” is a track that has simply cloned “Thunder”, without LITERALLY anything genuine to add if you have already heard the original. Blasterjaxx remains nonexistent on this one, LIZOT hidden behind Prezioso’s presence. Forgettable in and out, for this will help regulate my hype for the upcoming releases from the Maxximize owners by consequence.
What do you think?
