• Melodic Dubstep at its finest
• Warmer tones wrapped in a satisfying atmosphere
• That drop!
After receiving this song as a submission over sixty days ago, I did something unusual: scribbling down my thoughts instead of postponing them to a full review that I would write 2-3 days before posting.
Yet, even after this much time having passed, re-listening the melodic drop after a couple of months made me aware that it’s the simpler energy locked within the bassline’s hold, immediately breaking through the mold with a lethal combination of appealing and dynamic attributes.
Brought into existence by the creative minds of LOSTWIND and sung by Wolfpup, “Fractions” is a gorgeous tune that deserves an honorable mention for the balance it strikes between the various components, the nuanced ambiance, and as said, the serene moment presented pre-drop.
It’s often these details that catch my attention with Melodic Dubstep: the drop hitting in the right way, and there’s a sort of habit I have of describing songs that have the said (totally subjective) characteristic. The breakdown also stands out from the mass with a fulfilling sequence, wherein Wolfpup’s vocals synergize decently with the base, which uses a lovely piano and percussions to create a warm atmosphere. Totally worth a listen just for the intro alone.
So, “Fractions” is a joyful experience that denies subjugating to the same framework that a lot of producers in the genre are using without many thoughts given. It’s nice for once to hear something that stands out and plays differently!
