September 11th witnessed hundreds and thousands of Dutch citizens amassing together for the second time, as they protested with an uproar about the various measures taken by their government, abating the already crumbling events sector. “Unmute Us” showed the frustrations harbouring at the Electronic music’s epicenter, held once on 21st August and then last Saturday. Various DJs and notable performers showed their concerns and played live-performances during the gatherings, as people conducted outdoor raves jubilantly. Officials are now reportedly working to open the long-closed sectors, which might allow festivals and other music events to happen again.
Unfortunately however, it seems DJ Mag Top 100 live ceremony will have to wait. Amsterdam Dance Event’s socials announced cancellation of another sold-out edition of AMF 2021, with purchased tickets validated for the next year. A representative from ADE did mention hosting of smaller multi-day events instead, provided regional municipalities give the green signal.
Our best wishes extend for the individuals working in music and events management in Netherlands, with the hope that normalcy returns sooner.
It breaks our hearts that we will have to wait until 22 October 2022 to come together again in Amsterdam. AMF 2021 may not happen in the ArenA but we will still celebrate it together. Stay tuned to our socials for more info about how we will celebrate this year.???? pic.twitter.com/909zPzSSCo
