Oryn & Rivio – Fusion (ft. Anna Sophia)

March 7, 20212 min read

• Great enigmatic atmosphere
• Soft vocal performance
• Ophelia-esque drop style, peculiar approach

Two weeks without reviewing any bass release. Wow, strange. I missed so much my favourite genres but the latest releases weren’t clicking with me (referring to bass, dubstep…) and, suddenly, I received a DM from Rivio with the right pick for me. It was the one I was looking for. A collab with a newcomer, Oryn, and the vocalist Anna Sophia that immediately caught me by surprise with its quality sound design. The image of one of my favorite labels, Ophelia Records, immediately came to my mind: same BPM, same enigmatic atmosphere, same sweet vocal performance… “Fusion” has all the ingredients to be a release from Seven Lions’ label. Additionally, Anna Sophia delivered a good performance, adding smoothness to the composition with an echo that fits Italian chef kiss excellently!

The first build-up is extremely minimalistic (there are no snares) and the drop takes inspiration from Alison Wonderland (in my honestly opinion). That’s why, I was happy to hear that the second drop definitely adds some further elements that I enjoyed more than the first: both were good sequences, but the second one was by far my favourite.

Funny fact: I put the song in loop and I didn’t notice when it finished and when it started.

Conclusing, “Fusion” is one of these heart-touching underrated melodies that made Future Bass famous as a genre. You may think this can be generic but, for me, it is a solid release. Ah man, I missed Future Bass so much!
