Radar: 2 Targets Acquired

November 3, 20202 min read

The inception of this special article was because of a singular review for Deagon’s production, but while listening to HOA I finalized that another artist could also share this article and would be beneficial: Quando. It has been some time since I enjoyed not one, but two Radar releases in the same week!

The Greek based talent Deagon has already amazed me with a remix previously, and I was not surprised to see him début on an esteemed imprint. “Forever Young”, featuring a charming performance from vocalist Alex Jones, impressed with its dynamic breakdown. Solid drums materialize and sway to a fast-paced build-up, escalating towards an old-school Progressive hook. DubVision vibes, if I can draw a comparison, with a refreshing spin. Certainly an individual one should keep an eye on, as he is bound to impress.

Hailing from a completely different part of this planet, Singaporean native Quando delves in an other variant of the same genre. Robbie Rosen, who you might recognize from a song we reviewed from Steyyx recently. “Know Us”, as the song is titled, indulges the listener with a sweet and delicate melody, which has a complex albeit catchy progression. The bassline resorts to a less intense performance, not intruding. The instrumental is simpler than “Forever Young”, however imbued with a more romantic and sentimental mentality. This is a detail that would surely entrap the audience.

It’s perhaps easier to find some needles in such a big haystack, but I hope that this review will lead you towards these tracks, befitting more exposure. Both Deagon and Quando teamed up with great singers, and their outcomes are excellent from technical and emotional standpoints. A lucky week indeed!
