Winning Team & PJONAX ft. CAPS – Settle For None

September 14, 20202 min read

• Important team-up between different creators
• Nostalgic vibes in the drop…
• Quality tune that entertains in an efficient way

It’s quite uncommon nowadays to see big collaborations between more than three or four artists (except when two brothers are involved), but in “Settle For None” we have a whopping six people (“real”, without ghosts or co-producers) working on the project. The four guys of Winning Team teamed up (worth the redundancy) with PJONAX and CAPS to bring another success to Intensity Recordings’ vaunted catalogue. The new label is consolidating itself as one of the best discoveries of the year, especially when considering Festival sounds. With that said, let’s get straight to the point.

“Settle For None” starts smoothly with a soft instrumental that doesn’t interfere with CAPS’ beauteous vocal, is the main carrier of this section. After some bars, this scheme disappears and Winning Team’s signature leads claim the limelight, following the catchy main melody before going into the build-up.

Unfortunately, as we already heard the melody and the synths before in the last bars of the break, the drop is not really surprising, but it’s still one of the best parts of the song. I really miss this kind of Big Room, popular five or six years ago… Nowadays, only a few artists are keeping it alive, and I must congratulate with them for their contribution to the industry. The leads are amazingly processed and easily recognizable, while the bass, the sidechain and all the background effects give to this section a feeling of movement, dynamism that helps in making it cogent and sharp.

I’ve been following Winning Team for a long time, so I’m used to see them making top-notch music, but PJONAX and CAPS, two unknown names for me, really exceeded my expectations! They are two names to follow very closely in the future. On top of that, “Settle For None” represent another step for Intensity Recordings to become one of the best festival music labels around.
