Miles Away – Missing (feat. Trove)

August 24, 20202 min read

• Relaxing, calm Future Bass schematic
• Apt vocal presence from Trove
• Intricate vocal-chops layout in the drop

After having discovered the Canadian artist Miles Away a few months ago, there was an instant bond that formed between me and his discography. Naturally, I kept myself anxious for any new track reveal from him, and lo and behold, he has yet another Future Bass gem to talk about today. Some may remember the “Beautiful People” cover, which highlighted his adept usage of elegant sounds in his production signature. With that, there is scarcity of this enchanting feature in his latest offering “Missing”, his release on Lowly Palace featuring the talented vocalist Trove. At a closer look, this seems to be a sequel to his prior work “Walls”, thus hinting at possibility of an upcoming EP or an album even.

For those who might not be familiar, Trove has built-up quite the reputation; working along with the likes of Sick Individuals and Kill Paris, and without a shadow of a doubt, this proficient personality absolutely deserved the role. His delicate, yet passionate performance uplifts the slowly paced structure so constructed. And holding to this stamina, the drop explodes vibrantly with an alluring, if not simpler vocal-chop hook to enhance the liveliness.

If done correctly, a EDM producer can transform generic sounding element, such as the one mentioned above, into an infectious and memorable rhythm. There were moments I couldn’t discern the flow in arrangement of the vocal-chop melody, however the lightweight and transparent set-up does not ruin the experience.

“Missing” is somber lyrically, but left me dazed with a mind-clasping and laid-back demeanor. Usually, pop-inclining and sluggish Future Bass fail to hold my attention, but this one rather had an exciting outcome to listen. Miles Away has delivered another balanced and all-round result, and congratulations is in due order for such skillful presentations!
