• Elegant, solemn atmospheric breakdown
• Unusually distorted vocal by Aviella Winder
• Splendid fusion of both styles in the energetic drop
The American DJ/Producer T-Mass has always amazed me with his first-rate future bass creations. His remix with LZRD of Illenium’s “It’s All On U“, for example, has aggregated an insane amount of streams and is my personal top five of all times from the fetching genre. Many of his works (like “The End” and “By My Side“) are on heavy rotation in my playlist. Call me an aficionado, even if I never had the pleasure of actually reviewing any of his music. Most of the times, I end up listening to his new songs a fortnight later, a tad too late.
Anyway, today I can finally label myself as the fanboy and speak about one of my favorite artists of a genre which otherwise has a lot of mundane releases. His style is cleaner and mostly works around euphoric melodies that constantly play around with vocal chops. Not a revolutionary formula at one glance, but it’s being utilized so well nonetheless.
His collaboration with Mt. Eden kept me marvelling. He’s another renowned future bass artist, his touch is evident in the solemn, cinematic breakdown.
A gorgeous vocal by Aviella Winder (distorted in a curious way) plays a touchy symphony, accompanied by a couple of unusual plucks and an almost mystical atmosphere. T-Mass’ influence is present discernibly in the complex drop, with two synths clashing together to create an elegantly energetic atmosphere, interluded by his signature vocal chops. Gorgeous, especially when you start to notice all the minimal changes that the duo has inserted every few bars. Be it
the vocal melody, or the bassline, presence of appealing elements constantly increases the dynamism of “As One” effortlessly!
Many of you may disagree, but this is the future bass that I love and prefer. Ingenious stuff, where the elegance and calming signature from Mt. Eden fuses with T-Mass’s energetic drop in an explosive motley of sounds. I found the distortions in the vocal somehow unwanted, but again, “As One” has few, limited flaws. Excellent sound design which is requisite in this schematics, splendid concept and performance.
