Jerre – Stranger (ft. Blair Lee)

• Sublime vocal presence
• Synthwave influences
• Experimenting and alluring schematics

Mood is a big factor in deciding what music one wants to unwind themselves to. There are days we want to rock to an energetic bop, and then there are days we want to settle for something more placid and elegant. As a result, we as a blog, continuously strive to highlight these both types of Dance music. And today, we will be conforming to the latter. Last Friday, up and coming US-based solo act Jerre released his début single, and his entrée has left us impressed. Teaming up with talented vocalist Blair Lee, the pair have come up with “Stranger”. This particular composition has forced our hands to pen down a review, as we will justify in the latter half of this write-up.

The industrious Jerre gathered his reputation early on with solid remixes. We talked about one of his splendid take on “Lullaby”, originally composed by Sigala, way back in April of 2018. His breakthrough came when he caught the attention of the esteemed Strange Fruits imprint. The remix of “Broke” by Joshua Francis & DAD got published in the label. Furthermore, he revealed yet another remix for the aforementioned artist, titled “Coming Home”.

So here’s the moment. Why did a “Stranger” lure us to write about it? Why aren’t we talking about some other equable work?

The answer is simple enough.

A very first listen to this production presents enough evidence as to why. This serene medley so crafted begins with grandiose chords of the piano. The delightful and sublime vocal presence adds more to the amalgamation, assisted by vintage and Arpeggiating synthwave inspired synth. Thanks to this, the atmosphere makes the song monumentally appealing. However, the ensuing segment takes the cake entirely. The drop arrives with a plethora of liveliness, featuring bright future bass saws playing along with percussion. Talking about the foundation, the kick and offbeat snares follow the synths, laden with requisite FXs to complement the beat. Undeniably, the recherché sound selection embeds an alluring vibe to the instrumental right from the start!

As for our final thoughts, we would say “Strangers” has shown Jerre’s mettle for creating solitary efforts. As his socials mention of forthcoming originals, we are certainly and anxiously waiting for them!
