Daffy Muffin – Selecta

• Heavy sequence of percussions
• Energetic arrangements
• Resonating drop segment

In Dance music industry, new aliases are portals for an existing artist to experiment with different styles and arrangements. Today, the highlight is on the dynamic Russian dyad Matisse & Sadko, as their latest project “Daffy Muffin” has captured a lot of attention lately. They have released yet another intense and club-ready single, titled “Selecta”, which got revealed in leading Dutch imprint of Protocol Recordings.

While known for their melodic and atmospheric Progressive house works, the talented Russian natives have earned steady reputation over the years. However, surprisingly last month they lifted the curtains from this mysterious moniker, at the same time having their début in Revealed Recording. “Let It Buzz” was percussion driven and low-end loaded production, reminding the listeners of the earlier Electro House songs they crafted.

Title of the track often reflects the most hooking aspect of it, and funny enough “Selecta” has a nice ring to it. A Selecta is coincidentally the archaic name for a contemporary DJ, as the person passing the Vinyls was known as a Selector (which lead to the origin of the word “Selecta”). Coming back to the instrumental, the breakdown segment begins with blaring alarms and a vintage female vocal snippet, as the swift snare riser brings
in the snappy drop section. Embedded with a catchy tribal groove, a chiming lead synth ricochet as shuffling drums enhance the flavour of the ongoing rhythm. Fast and potent, the incisive brew of the well-selected components hit harder than expected!

To summarise, “Selecta” is perfectly suited for any dance-floor, and Daffy Muffin have proved their mettle yet again!
