• Pretty decent vocal
• Suyano’s characteristic lead
• Poppish and slow drop
Progressive House was, is and will always be one of my favourite genres. Thanks to lots of amazing artists we have a lot of different styles and sounds that make Progressive genuine and beautiful. Anyway, it seems like not everybody understands that concept. We are talking about Suyano this time.
His new track is called “Should’ve Been Love”, featuring Mandy Jiroux as the vocalist. Her performance was brilliant, by far my favourite element of the composition. The break is really minimalistic, maybe too much: having only a piano, some percussions and a guitar it feels a bit empty for me. The section is nothing remarkable, the only thing I really liked was, as already said, the vocal.
Then, we have another typical Suyano drop, but way softer and harmless that some of his previous releases like “Brothers In Arms“, far light years away from this tune. His signature lead has almost all the leadership here, because the bass is completely empty and weak in my opinion, being closer to a pop one instead of the progressive one I could expect. Adding an anonymous melody, we have a completely forgettable drop that has nothing to tell. The quality level is high, but I didn’t feel any particular emotion while listening to it.
I really miss the old Suyano, that one that used to make powerful and dynamic masterpieces like “Wait For The Night“. If we realize that these softer songs are more radio-friendly than his old ones, maybe we can understand why he is doing these things. As always, money rules, and of course Suyano wanted to join the hen of the golden eggs. I appreciate the production quality of “Should’ve Been Love” and its vocal, but the output is a radio-friendly unmemorable release.
