When DubVision releases something, you always know instantly that it is a quality tune. Independently of genres or labels, the famous Dutch duo is widely recognized for their ability behind the daws, focusing on quality over quantity (they only released 4 tracks last year behind this name) and delivering always a fresh and really characteristic sound.

Their first release of the year is called “Are You Listening”, having chosen HANDED as the vocalist for this one. Starting from the beginning, we can hear a cool guitar riff, followed by the vocal after a few seconds. The general mood of the first break is melodic and even poppish, using powerful 808s and trap percussions that suit well the charming male vocal. But, as I have known DubVision for a long time, I was sure that we were missing their true essence. And I wasn’t wrong.

After a typical signature build up of the duo, we finally reach the drop. In these times when everybody releases the same type of things, hearing a classic Electro House drop is a great breath of fresh air. Aggressive synths, their favourite kick and groovy percussions take over these 16 bars, bringing us some madness in contrast with the tranquil previous part.

Listening to DubVision’s discography is like going fishing in a lake full of enormous fishes. You never know what will happen, but you can ensure that all the prey you catch will be big. Although they have another project together with Firebeatz, I’m glad to see that they still put attention on the old project. I’m anxious to hear more from these guys in the next months.
