• Creative, without exaggerations
• Sweet and easily hypnotic melody
• Glitched sounds everywhere, as suggested by the title

Glitched” EDM is trending nowadays, as the quick success of artists like REZZ demonstrated. After having seen the title of this upcoming collab between Martin Garrix and Julian Jordan, we were expecting something of that style.

We were wrong, the two friends brought a progressive house tune instead, but the quality and the creativity of “Glitched” isn’t disappointing. It’s a fascinating composition, with a good concept and a certain freshness. It’s nice to see the #1 DJ in the world experimenting with new sounds while keeping his usual touch. Furthermore, Julian Jordan cleverly added his darker touch. The couple had always been very connected since their youth and presented us two bangers already, “BFAM” (when they were 15!) and “Welcome“.

So, what exactly is “Glitched”? An experiment, but with mainstream potential. The duo used a classic background progressive structure, with the addition of innovative elements and distortions. The title describes the tune efficiently: the presence of glitched sounds is its chief characteristic. A classic Martin Garrix intro (with a distinctive lead and melody pattern) is quickly followed by a lovely drop, with a complex melody and the immediate presence of distortions, rapid changes of pitch, vocal distortions and unexpected pauses.

The result is a bit dispersive in our opinion but certainly enjoyable. The sweet bassline results being clean and well structured, and the overall tune has a specific dynamism.

In conclusion, “Glitched” is that kind of experimental song that can quickly become a hit for its creative approach – good move by the Dutch producers, who rarely fail to produce a hit. We liked its unexpected elements in the drop, in particular, they add a certain unpredictability that is rare to see, in EDM nowadays. Especially from big names.
