• Uncreative, uncreativeeeeee
• Outstanding vocal, not supported by the base
• Catchy but completely flavourless

It’s quite a boring week, without any particularly exciting release, so we went back in time instead and picked this quite important release of the last Friday. Unfortunately, we aren’t really happy about it… “Light It Up” is a delusion.

Why?

Well, because of two reasons. First of all, Suyano. The Dutch talent is one of the most promising names in the Revealed roster, and a collab with the boss could have helped him in getting more deserved success. Examples like Joey Dale with “Arcadia” and Thomas Newson with “8Fifty” show how much a collab with Hardwell can really boost a career… “Light It Up”, in our opinion, is a forgettable song, so this isn’t the case.

The second reason is about the vocal. Damn, that vocal. Richie Loop made an astonishing performance, but the base didn’t even manage to valorize the 10% of it. We always like how the Jamaican vocalist creates a magnetizing atmosphere with his voice… He has one of the catchiest vocals around, and people like Henry Fong, MR.BLACK and now Hardwell noticed that.
Anyway, his splendid work didn’t receive the assistance of the base, a reggaeish structure without any sign of personality or creativity. It fits with the overall mood, but fails in supporting the dynamism and the energy of Richie Loop. It’s like having Fernando Alonso on a Toyota Corolla E80. He drives well, but at 10% of its effective potential.

Disappointed by the breakdown, we were hoping for a cool drop. Mhhhhhhh nope. It’s another section without any particular element for us. It’s catchy, we must admit that it’s enjoyable, but it doesn’t really leave us any special feeling at the end. We found it anonymous, too similar to many releases by other artists like Quintino, Henry Fong or Steven Vegas.

In conclusion, “Light It Up” is a missed chance. It’s also comparable to “Badam“, a previous collab between Hardwell and Henry Fong, so… Nothing really new. Its big lack of personality made it, in our opinion, a forgettable release.
