R3HAB & Mike Williams – Lullaby (Adam Fine & Notpil Remix)

August 28, 20182 min read

81/100

• The original vocal is free to show its class
• Experimental approach, definitively successful
• Relaxing, but with a darker approach

Lullaby” by Mike Williams and R3HAB is one of our favourite tunes of the year, with a 90+ rating.

Today, we explore a futuristic trap remix by Adam Fine and Notpil, two talents (from Boston and Melbourne) that impressed us very much.

The intriguing vocal is one of our favourite elements of the original, and, even if the spectacular drop has been changed, the overall result valorizes the incredible performance of the singer. A slow yet hypnotic wobbling melody accompanies it for almost the whole duration… A particular that, even if it sounds a bit unusual at first, results being an excellent choice!

Trap elements, like the dark and vibrant bassline, supported by classic hi-hats and percs, supplements the vocal with class and clever dynamism. The main lead maintains a sweet mood (clear tribute to the original dreamy atmosphere) during the buildup, then switches to a darker one. Genial transition.

The drop leaves that spicy flavour in the (hypothetical) mouth, especially when the magical vocal starts to play in the second section. Fabulous.

You have to turn off the brain and don’t think about the original “Lullaby” in this case. The change of mood is courageous and aggressive, but the result is definitively exotic and mysterious. We selected this remix because it’s intriguing and particularly exciting, it demonstrates that, sometimes, revolutionising an already good song can bring lovely results!
