The Discovery of “Guatemala To Paris”

August 24, 20182 min read

Usually we find music to review from social media, Spotify, or suggestions from our friends and fans, but the story of how I came to review “Guatemala to Paris” is quite a bit more interesting than seeing a new song in my recommended playlist on Spotify.

While we were on vacation a few weeks ago, I was dragging my drunk self around Sardinia when I walked into this club called, “Buddha Del Mar.” I was immediately struck by whatever the DJ was playing as I entered as it sounded so euphoric in my inebriated state. While I was lost in the moment, taking in every beat of the song, I tried to remember the name of the song. I recall thinking that it must have been one of Mesto’s releases. In the middle of all the chaos of the dancefloor, I screamed over to my friend, “Shazam this song!” In my limited consciousness, I wanted to make sure I didn’t lose this gem. I found out and made it my sole responsibility to write the name down and review it once I got back home.

Promise kept.

“Guatemala To Paris” is a fantastic future bounce tune by Carl Nunes. The melody is one of the catchiest things I’ve heard in a while, and, trust me, works perfectly live. I can personally attest to that.

The relaxing breakdown presents some similarities with some of Garrix’s songs like “Pizza“, but Carl Nunes puts unique care in the way he handles the delicate essence of the lead. The drop has a splendid mix of positive vibes and captivating energy. A quite aggressive bassline accompanies a sparkling melody, capable to amaze and entertain the crowd. It’s an exceptional approach to future bounce, with unusual but fitting energy and euphoric vibes. Difficult to categorize, easy to love.

Thanks to the DJ, who I later found out goes by “Gianni,” for playing this song at the perfect moment, and also to Carl Nunes for this insane track. What a night and what a song.
