Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike are really two guys that attire my attention.
They broke into the scene thanks to Swedish House Mafia letting them remixing together ‘Leave The World Behind‘ 10 years ago, then again, thanks to them pushing ‘Wakanda‘ during their One Last Tour, including the legendary Ultra Miami 2013 conclusive set.
It was thanks to Swedish House Mafia experimenting with Big Room House that the genre became popular in the first place, and we all know who have been the biggest exponents of the genre back in the ‘EDM Golden Era’ around 2012 and 2013.
Speaking of 2013, during the Tomorrowland 2013 Aftermovie, they let people listen for the first time to ‘Sentido‘, a collaboration with Steve Angello that fast forward 5 years hasn’t been released yet.
Oh, and speaking of Steve Angello, the Swedish artist has taken part to b2b sets with the brothers twice: in 2016 and in 2017 during their Bringing The Madness concert series.
Speaking of which, this series of concerts that has now become a successful staple of the electronic scene started in 2013 with the Bringing Home The Madness edition. They opened the set with ‘Bringing Home The Madness‘. The much-wanted intro ID, released in 2016, screams ‘Swedish House Mafia – Greyhound‘ all over the place.
2014, Bringing The World The Madness. They used the same exact curtain technique and sounds that Swedish House Mafia used to kick off their (pardon the repetition) legendary Madison Square Garden sold out show in 2011.
Flash forward to 2017, Bringing The Madness: Reflections edition. The now uber-famous Belgian-Greek DJ duo has another intro, which is speculated to be simply called ‘Reflections’. Well, it could be easily called ‘Hans Zimmer – Time (Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike Remix)’.
What my attention was brought to, is that back in 2011 Swedish House Mafia kicked off their astronomically important Madison Square Garden show with a primitive version of ‘Greyhound’, which heavily sampled an unreleased ‘Hans Zimmer – Time (Audible Bootleg)’.
Connect the dots.
At the end of the day, even if it’s difficult to believe, Dimitri and Mike are extremely connected to Swedish House Mafia. A collaboration between them may be or not may be possible… What do you think?
