• Amalgamates peak time trance and experimental.
• Lively voice and encompassing break.
• Peculiar drop, yet intensely delivers.

Alter aliases are known to bring out the different side of any revered artist, and with each passing day, we are witnessing brand-new side projects started by different musicians. Among this all, we have a new production from the alternate part of one and only Porter Robinson, who continues to dominate even with his usual stage name. Virtual Self has tapped out an unexpected signature from Porter, and preceding Friday unveiled the new single “Angelic Voices”.

Specialising in what is termed as Neo-trance, Virtual Self aims at bringing back the vibrant elements of peak-time trance and amalgamating it with a newer side of dance music. Even if not popular among the masses, this style of music is certainly endearing for both newbies and oldies, as it primary focus is nothing other than emotions. Almost a year ago, we first got introduced to Virtual Self, revealing the debut instrumental “Eon Break”. We were quite impressed at the time it came out, as it quickly differentiated itself with an atmospheric breakdown and peculiar yet intense drop. “Angel Voices” doesn’t deviate from this schematic, as the experiments and melodic aspect boasts effectively!

Starting with majestic arp synth, the song initiates with encompassing pad synths and nostalgic tone attached to it. Adding to that is lively vocal, which works along with the fast percussions and step-ups. The saw synths also show their elegance, as they lead further with intensity towards the strange & strapping drop. This oncoming section, however, surprises the most, as it utilizes strong kicks and voice synth manipulating the groove. The chemistry between the elements is truly amazing with no further doubts, as it demonstrates and delivers with efficacy!

Summarising, Porter has certainly unlocked a new definition of his music, and nonetheless, we are pretty anxious for the future releases!
