Skytters & Nandex – Pulse 99

Skytters is not a new name for us Reviewers. The Italian-American duo already gained some important success with “Takha” (together with Matthew Ros), and the latest collab with the duo Swede Dreams, called “Drum Roll“.

Today the duo delights us again alongside the Spanish talent Nandex, with “Pulse 99”. Nandex is a producer more oriented towards aggressive vibes (with rawstyle and hardstyle productions in his catalogue), so this collab brings together two genres… Big room (the dominant element) and hardstyle. Refreshing!

The particular that immediately caught our attention is the frenetic, rapid & hypnotic melody. It fuses the melodic structure of Skytters’ music with a more brutal approach of Nandex, and we loved it! Somehow the lead is acid and energetic, but doesn’t get too aggressive. Rather, the artists preferred to focus on the melody, a real example of catchiness. We found it to be the major point of strength for “Pulse 99”: its frenetic mood makes the whole song extremely dynamic and exciting!

The first drop is more “Skytters” style, while the second one presents an unexpected festival hardstyle twist by Nandex. We liked both parts, because they showed how this structure is capable to adapt into two different genres and yet keep a solid shape. It’s not easy to make such a balanced scheme!

“Pulse 99” doesn’t revolutionise the styles of the artists, but it’s rather a confirmation. A good release, and another example of how big room and hardstyle can coexist, with interesting results!
