W&W x Darren Styles feat. Giin – Long Way Down

86/100

The month of May started promisingly with a new vibrant and engaging release, from none other than the domineering Dutch pair W&W. Already having revealed two other festival weapons from their arsenal, “God Is A Girl”, which delightfully revamped Groove Coverage’s classic work and then came in “Supa Dupa Fly 2018”, which supposedly got released yesteryear and officially previous month.

Nevertheless, the heavyweight duo has been evidently working with other genre and styles of music, displaying their exquisite skills. Last but not the least, who can forget the mighty side project of NWYR!

With all this said, let us talk about the latest production. Named “Long Way Down”, this particular track focuses on a rather hardcore/nightcore kind of schematic. To amp up things, W&W collaborated with the famous English producer Darren Styles, and a relatively new name in the scene, Giin, who enlivened this song with her lively vocals. With all these promising names on one single, it can be confidently said that it guarantees something unusual yet impressive. While there is the familiar uplifting melody from W&W, Darren Styles presumably focuses on the harder and fast-paced rhythm.

The breakdown starts with the sing-along voice of Giin, while the backdrop garners energy to transition to a sped up groove, gaining momentum for a fair dosage of hardstyle influenced supersaw. This does elevate things quite magnificently while creating the necessary euphoria. But hereafter comes the drop, which adds the cherry on top of the cake! Striking with the intensified saw synths and a strong kick, it manages to embed the stamina efficiently. Even though the drop could be classified as hardcore/hardstyle inspired, but an amalgamation of the melody and the components makes it much more than that!

In few words, “Long Way Down” hits the bullseye with its striding attribute and harmonics. W&W seemingly have lots in store for this year, not just their usual gargantuan big room house tunes!
