Corx & Diann – Loa Guede

The song of today, “Loa Guédé”, presents a fascinating symbolism behind its name.

“Loa” are the Haitian divinities, and they are composed of different categories. The two producers Corx and Diann decided to dedicate their collaboration to the “Guédé”, the spirits of the death. Their ritual dance is called “banda” and it’s made of dark and tribal sounds.

This may sound a bit spooky for you guys, and in fact “Loa Guédé” respects the tradition presenting a broody, mysterious and incredibly hypnotic concentrate of drums and wildness. In particular, an essential element of the production is the intriguing vocal… The ethnic voices create a fascinating atmosphere of trance, suddenly broken by the drop.

The massive drums destroy the delicate and almost religious balance created in the build-up, which is not aggressive but unexpectedly equilibrates. Then, as said, an aggressive drop takes the command of “Loa Guédé”. We were fascinated by the explosive energy of the drums and the bassline!

The melody is minimal, the power is concentrated, the objective is to hypnotize the listener with an innovative combination of sounds. The two artists managed to do it well while respecting the traditional atmosphere.

In conclusion, we truly appreciated this tribal collaboration, released by The Groove Cartel. It’s balanced for every taste: ethnic vibes, catchy rhythm, powerful drop, and an obscure and dark personality. Excellent release!
