Hardwell & Dr Phunk feat. Jantine – Take Us Down (Feeding Our Hunger)

Collaborating for the second time with renowned Dutch DJ/Producer Hardwell, Dr Phunk has adeptly, for the first time, stepped out of his usual production style and proved his versatility. After the major success and appreciation for “Here Once Again” on Hardwell & Friends Vol. 2, the adroit hardstyle Dutch artist has teamed up with Hardwell again! This time the duo is with vocalist Jantine for the fifth and the last track of the Hardwell & Friends Vol. 3 – “Take Us Down (Feeding Our Hunger)”. The usual fan’s expectations for this release was a totally euphoric dutch hardstyle, but here comes a surprise as this production follows an aggressive big room scheme, and switches proficiently to a faster pace later.

The track starts with a sentimental tone played on a vibrant piano with emotional chords slowly the elegant vocals from Jantine come in, creating a sublime atmosphere. The breakdown escalates with the vocal, creating a relaxing and peaceful mood… What a genial idea! After a few moments, the overall tone changes abruptly as aggressive electro house synths take over. The first energetic drop follows soon after.

The first drop presents the same electro synths, but intensified along with a punchy kick. The synths here do the trick, playing out a fierce melody. Without any more elements, the featured components of the first drop solidly deliver energy and aggressiveness.

The second segment of this release, however, speeds up things, with the same breakdown, but a hardstyle melody. This variation does embed a more aggressive and kinetic tone, thanks to Dr Phunk influence. The second drop follows the same drop melody but faster. However, to add the last twist at the eleventh hour, the drop melody subsides some notes as the hardstyle kick punches inject more flavour. The icing on a beautiful cake.

Final conclusion for this track would be that it has the right intensity and the creative variation works perfectly. Undoubtedly the best way to conclude this superb EP from Hardwell ‘& Friends’.
