The year-end gets further and further impressive as the current releases from various artists have started coming in. Spinnin’ Records especially, has managed to score with the latest releases like “Wired” and “Ready”. Today, another fascinating production has been published by the Dutch company’, this time an unexpected collaboration between the electro-big room house Dutch powerhouse Ummet Ozcan and the Dutch Duo Lucas & Steve, known for their catchy house sound. We are talking about “Higher”, an interesting production focusing on both the energetic electro and groovy future house styles.

When the first information about this track came surfaced online, I was intrigued by it, since the collaboration included Ummet Ozcan, known for his hulking big room productions… And Lucas & Steve, notable for their summer-inspired catchy future house. Two different genres, two different mindstyles. The result of this collaboration has to lead to a more “Hexagon” (Don Diablo) style future house, but with striking electro house features.

“Higher” starts with a future house wobbling synth playing out, with a vocal snippet getting introduced. The first breakdown features only on this two particular attractive elements, as the riser glides in to bring in the kinetic house drop.

The drop has been equipped with the same style of synth used in the breakdown, intensified.

Shuffling along, the drop melody manages to bring energy. However, the drop melody strikes an unshakeable resemblance to classical Don Diablo drops. However, I wouldn’t see it as a con or generic-ness, as it fits in with the overall track quite adeptly.

The second breakdown changes the pattern, however. Repeating in the same way as the first one, the only thing that comes different is the catchy saw breakdown which is a hallmark of electro house. A creative idea indeed!

Concluding, I would say that “Higher” managed to impress me with its components. I hoped more uniqueness, but nonetheless, the track lives up to the expectations and delivers unfailingly.
