Today we have an interesting tune from the duo DJs From Mars, hailing from Italy. I always have been a big fan of them, of their creativity and their genial mashups, so it’s a big honor for me showing you their latest single, “Harlem”.
“Harlem”, which is more focused towards happy vibes, more summer-ish I would say. With catchy female vocal snippet running throughout the track, it creates a total happy deep, with modern pop future house elements. That’s an important characteristic of almost every work from the duo: the combination of old and new sounds! Vintage and futuristic and the same time!
The track starts with a catchy dance piano playing groovy notes, creating instant cheerful atmosphere, and not to mention a summer feeling. The luscious female vocal snippet comes in, and instantly makes the track even more ear candy.
Both the major elements (piano and vocal) go together, in a harmonious way.
The track starts getting some momentum when the chord progression changes to get a bit emotional touch to the track. On this point, the vocal gets the classic repetition riser, with the same word repeated to rapidly get to the drop.
The drop, lead by the vocal, gets a major change compared to the breakdown, with brass stabs to make the drop a bit more aggressive compared to the earlier breakdown. That’s not exactly deep house, as some future/electro house elements have been ingrained to the drop to give a more energetic touch.
“Harlem” surely is one helluva of catchy tune from this duo. I would like to suggest you checking this track if you are craving for last minute summer-happy tracks. DJs From Mars are two genial guys, and I really recommend to check the lyrics video too (down there). Funny and comical, I hope it will make you smile as much as I did.
I really respect those guys, because they are an example of what an utopic EDM world would be for me: people that are just following their passion, releasing unusual and creative music, with a unique style, without caring about their (deserved) fame and success.
