Summer seems to never end, with so many great releases flowing in at the moment! We already have reviewed lots of them, but now we are going a bit different this time, and talk about a superb moombahton/dancehall tune, released on Spinnin records just a couple of days ago. “U Don’t Know” amazed me with its creativity and catchiness! Even if the use of “U” instead of “You” is atrocious for my grammatic-obsessed mind, I will fly over this detail in the name of good music.
We all know that moombahton has already gained a lot of success and is trending in current dance-pop scene. This release, however, is more leaned towards the trending style but has some unique catchy elements which inspired us to review this. The perfect balance between following the trend and having an own personality!
“U Don’t Know” is an idea from two upcoming and uprising Dutch talents, Trobi and Boaz Van De Beatz. Trobi is a prodigious artist, focusing on deep house and chill genres. His remix of “Electric Elephants” by Jay Hardway is my favorite track from him.
Talking about Boaz Van De Beatz, I am relatively new to his (long and unforgettable) name, but he already has released on Diplo’s Mad Decent Label and is already a notable name in the scene. Talking about the vocal, we have two great singers with different voices, Âdïka & KaliBwoy.
“U Don’t Know” has one important element I want to talk about before going into details. It not only makes it unique but tremendously catchy.
This element is actually a flute, an exotic one, but it plays out an alluring melody which really catches on.
In fact, the flute is the very first thing that greets us in the track. It fades away to a lovely vocal, striking up that moombahton feeling instantly, quickly escalating to the drop.
The drop features the same flute sound with the typical moombah percussions and groove supporting it. Shortly soon, it gets replaced by KaliBwoy vocals, slightly more aggressive and energetic. The best thing I liked about the drop was how different, unusual and lively elements were inserted for a fantastic result.
Finally, I would say that this track is certainly captivating and an ear-catchy tune perfect for radios and the summer parties.
That’s how creativity work, guys.
