Eric Prydz vs. Hans Zimmer – Opus Interstellar (ANGEMI Remix)

August 22, 20172 min read

As you probably know, I rarely review mashups.

Don’t get me wrong, I love them, but it’s really difficult because 99% of times is just a question of tastes.

But, sometimes, there are mashups that are simply masterpieces.

Like this one.

Even if I don’t like “Opus”, ANGEMI left me speechless with this super psy-trance edit. He used the “Interstellar” theme by Hanz Zimmer together with “Opus” by Eric Prydz and the result is perfect!

What I like the most about “Opus Interstellar” are two details.

First, the passion behind it. This is an emotional hit, not a dancefloor anthem neither a commercial edit. It’s original, ANGEMI decided to use two songs that mean a lot to him, so the final result is genuine and passionate.

I can feel the love to music that the Italian talent has in every second of the edit.

Second, the clash between genres. There are two main clashes: between old (“Opus”) and new (“Interstellar”), and between orchestral and psy-trance. Surprisingly, this works pretty well!

The idea of using the “Opus” lead in the Zimmer melody is particularly interesting. The overall atmosphere is calm and relaxing. ANGEMI doesn’t want to make you dance (mainly), he wants to send a message and valorizes two songs that he loves.

That’s why I don’t even consider “Opus Interstellar” a mashup. This is a story.

There are few producers in the history that managed to create something similar, and today ANGEMI enters in this category. I’m really proud of him!

I’m afraid to not being able to describe well how much the edit is important, but I hope you will appreciate it as much as I do. Music with a message and a story is the best music in the world. With creativity and talent, ANGEMI once again showed us that he’s a unique and skilled artist.
