Kill The Buzz & Hardwell feat. Max Collins – Still The One

75/100

The Dutch sensation Hardwell rolled out the sequel to his first successful EP, “Hardwell and Friends Vol.2”, containing some really unique tracks. Among all, the second collaboration “Still The One” has been between the Revealed veteran Kill The Buzz and Hardwell himself.

The collaborators need no introduction; both have a very distinctive name in the EDM industry. Having produced many hits, it is a natural expectancy that their collaboration would be another good track. If you can remember the very first track from Revealed this year, “Break The House”, you can exactly get what I mean to say. I’m afraid to say that a bit of disappointment comes here; “Still The One” isn’t much of an imposer. Now that’s our opinion on the track, many people out there won’t agree with us.

Anyway, coming back to the track, firstly it’s a common progressive house. “Still The One” starts with piano chords playing, as the vocal emerges out. The vocal has been delivered quite good by Max Collins, I really liked the tone of it. Together with the piano, the atmosphere felt slightly and strangely analogous to the classic EDM track “Years” by Alesso and Matthew Koma…. The breakdown keeps it subtle and gentle before slowly bringing out the drop, as generally, a progressive house track would do.

That part didn’t impress me a lot, to be honest. The melody feels again kinda vaguely similar to “Years”, without a lot of energy… It feels really predictable and therefore compromises the vibes right there. However, it isn’t that worse! “Still The One” is actually enjoyable if you don’t consider the above points very much. It has an emotive tone to it and slightly delivers the progressive feeling.

The second breakdown keeps the pace with the drop as the vocals overplay with some percussion and kick, finally giving in to the vocals and bringing the drop again.

Conclusions? This track is a good production, but as I mentioned, it is a bit too predictable. Otherwise, “Still The One” definitely lives up to some extent.
