Despacito Like This (Kap Slap Mashup)

August 17, 20172 min read

Let’s pick two of the most hated things by the EDM community: “Despacito” and The Chainsmokers.
Let’s put them together.

The result is not just surprisingly good, is freaking GENIAL!

This American genius, Kap Slap, is not new to mashup lovers (and he produces beautiful tunes too) but this is his best masterpiece.
Trust me, I hate “Despacito” as almost every person who is reading the article, but that drop made me smile. After 5 seconds of initial astonishment, I was already in love with it.

That’s the power of mashups: even the most hated song, when edited in a creative and special way, can become extremely interesting.

And well, Kap Slap didn’t stop there. He added “Alone” by Marshmello, a “Coming Home” vocal by Skylar Grey and even a little sample from “Sweet Disposition”! What a mastermind, this kind of mashup is extremely hard to make!
This edit is probably my favorite of this year, because of its geniality and the ability to transform two mainstream songs in something special and different.

The idea of chopping the Bieber vocal is just… Incredible.

Kap Slap, using the most mainstream stuff he found, created something interesting and out of schemes. This clash between “common” and “uncommon” makes “Despacito Like This” an example of a perfect mashup. I’m not even wasting time describing the magnificent technical level there, obviously.

So, in conclusion, I’m proud to declare that I finally found a good version of “Despacito”! Thanks, Kap Slap!
