So, for today’s article, I decided to write about “Tarzan” from the known luminaries Armin van Buuren & Blasterjaxx. This is perhaps their biggest collaboration in recent times, after the latter Dutch duo released multiple successful works such as ‘Bigroom Never Dies‘ with Hardwell, ‘Let The Music Take Control‘ with W&W. Speaking about that, Tarzan is almost a follow-up of ‘Rocket‘, which was another massive team-up with W&W back in 2014.

Most of you may know that “Tarzan” has been world premiered at biggest festivals like Sunrise, Tomorrowland, Amsterdam Dance Event and ASOT. It bore different names right before being confirmed, but the drop remained the same from Blasterjaxx 2014-2015 Big Room flavour.

Well, Thom & Idir have made three remixes for Armin till now, a final collab was already in the air… The first remix was ‘Save My Night‘ (2014) which helped them reached the apex on Beatport charts. Followed was their spin on the ASOT 900 anthem “Lifting You Higher” (2019), and then this year’s ‘Million Voices‘ from his latest ‘Balance’ album. The first one is my personal favourite, apart from nostalgic reasons, because of the hard-hitting drop, which was influenced from Hard/Dutch House.

Alright let’s dive into the production. At the beginning of “Tarzan”, swift build-up comes with an expected repetition of the hype vocals, as the pre-drop vocal proceeds to shouts explicitly “Put Your F#ckin hands up!”. The first drop explodes vibrantly much like “Rocket”, followed by heavy bass and hulking beat of drums. This is further complemented with the orchestral breakdown, along with the genre-requisite of Iceland claps. The “Tarzan” theme is kept in loop as well. Next, the lead brings up to build-up with the hefty drums again. Right before second drop, when the hands-up moment is fulfilled, the final climactic hook strides in with gusto!

Fans of the mentioned genre are indeed grateful to this icons for crafting this dynamite of a production, making us reminisce of the golden-era of EDM.
