Mainstage: The New Frontier

July 5, 20212 min read

It is well-known to any layman electronic music listener that there are several styles dominating the Dance charts at any given time. With the constant renovations performed by the newer talents and hence trends catching up, the popular front of EDM has shifted grounds faster than the speed of sound. Only a few years back, Big Room seemed as the only ubiquitous genre played out on festival grounds. Things happened as usual, and soon we had leading acts playing out all kinds of music together; explosion of Bass, Future and Tech House and more became a staple for ravers, not remaining exclusive only to the underground boiler rooms and warehouse events. In simple words, evolution happened.

The digital music-store Beatport has been the quintessential place for EDM DJs and producers alike, as its charts are often seen parallel to other reputed charts say, Billboard. Last month, the American company bunched several genres, ranging from wobbly Bass House to stomping Future Rave into one category: Mainstage. This new label will oversee all sorts of records that host “high energy sounds of the festival mainstage”, as mentioned in the press release from mentioned outlet.

If it comes to our opinion, this all seems fine and dandy. “Mainstage” imprint could serve as the new common ground for different fans to discover various songs. For instance, have a look at the charts instated there. Blasterjaxx’s new explosive EP sits along with the current reigning remix of Shouse’s “Love Tonight” from David Guetta, among other aliases such as Habstrakt, Curbi and more.
