Goodbye, Black Label

April 7, 20211 min read

While it might be slightly late, but this is a story about a label worth mentioning. It all started with Trampa and surprisingly finished with him as the very last release for this imprint; thus a perfect circle was made.

Fortunately, there is a plausible reason on why Black Label closed its doors. Never Say Die and Black Label were separated by two different ends of the spectrum, while the main label focuses on releasing Heavy Dubstep as its sub-brand publishes Riddim and Tearout, two underground genres.

Black Label

As the pandemic occurred and disrupted the usual, producers found out that Black Labels submissions were more melodic than the NSD ones, as the latter’s records were heavier. Thus happened a clash that birthed this decision.

The conclusion? They will release all their future songs under the single umbrella of Never Say Die Records. It started way back in 2014 with a compilation series and it reached a peak that could earn it an independent status even, as it brought heavyweights like Leotrix, SVDDEN DEATH or Trampa himself. I happened to review one of their latest releases (Cripplingg’s EP, a solid recommendation), and hopefully the legacy of Black Label will stay with its fans for a long time to come.
