Before going any further, a question comes to my mind: how many of you remember tuning into radio-shows after schools or during work to take some stress off the shoulders? Many will agree, as listening to the hand-selected tracks mixed by your favourite heavyweight is a great way of spending time.
Last Friday marked a conclusion with the very last episode of Hardwell On Air, completing ten years since commencement with over 500 installments. The finale contained several unreleased and upcoming records from Dash Berlin, Sick Individuals, Arston, Jaxxwell (conjunction formed between Hardwell and Blasterjaxx) and more. Several unofficial remixes of classics like “Apollo” and “Spaceman” were also spun during this particular session. With that, inauguration of an always live Revealed channel happened with the promise of guest mixes and new IDs.
There are a few afterthoughts about this. We all have sometime stumbled on live music channels on YouTube with bare minimum viewers, which have become a trend as of lately with other labels and associations. A weekly iteration of the show, in my opinion, gave fans a special time and place to gather. Now that an automated service replaces it, will it satisfy the listeners? After this appears the question on Hardwell’s ever reducing engagement with his audience. Does this mean his hiatus is going to be even more prolonged?
My skepticism aside, there are a lot of memories with HOA. Despite I wasn’t a regular, there were some remarkable episodes that aired, especially between 200 to 300 during the height of Revealed and festival music. The show made an unforgettable impression, remnant of EDM’s finest talents and sounds.
