• Netsky and Darren Styles?!
• Interesting intersection of styles
• Simple but effective
Yes, this exists.
Netsky teamed up with Dirty Workz heavyweight Darren Styles to create the most unexpected synergy of this year. The former weaves his DnB net to be spun on the dancefloor, and Darren embeds his higher BPMs to cause a heart attack due to its swift pace. This combination does wonders, and can be an example of how different worlds collide to create something colossal!
“Look At Me Go” begins with a rather enigmatic introduction (with a high-levelled melody), favoured further by the stronger kick drums in the centre, having an elevating feel which hints subtly at the vocal which appears later in the scene. Don’t confuse this one with John Christian’s similar titled song. It is minimalistic, but easily noticeable with an enjoyable build-up albeit somewhat predictable.
Its Psy-Trance influences interweaving with Darren’s vigorous and rushing kicks are enough to provide the thrill and adrenaline needed. This will garner a lot of admiration, as it is my favourite segment from the entire production. The Drum and Bass arrangement strikes steadfastly, without overpassing the heaviness one can observe in this particular genre. Those “distorted trumpets” match altogether with the atmosphere, even if it may sound weird at first, slowly entrapping as you give it time. Candidly, the rude vibe and the hooking melody takes the cake!
These creators impressed me a lot. Of course, “Look At Me Go” is my preferred tune of the entire album, right up to the leagues of “Mixed Emotions” with Montell2099. The Belgium native has crafted his most personal compilation and deserves even more recognition, and hence my recommendation goes to “Second Nature”!
