Fundraising: New Initiatives to Help Artists

May 2, 20201 min read

Times are hard, and there is no denying that. Industries have lost billions to this pandemic, resulting in an instantaneous unemployment rate in just a month or so. Musicians are no exception to this, having to put a total pause on their live gigs and other stuff which is their source of income. This serious situation is likely to continue in the following months.

Luckily enough, a great number of conglomerates have stepped up in providing the much-needed relief. Esteemed streaming websites such as SoundCloud and Spotify have included a fundraising feature, in which fans can contribute to their favourite and upcoming musical outfits. The thing to be mentioned here is that there are certain pre-requisites which are to be fulfilled, before this specific campaign can be activated. Say SoundCloud, it is only available with the Pro plan, or in Spotify, the artist page needs to be verified (which is cost-free).

In our opinion, this simple gesture can represent an important help for all the artists out there, and we particularly appreciated the care that these services showed towards their creators.

Will these corporate actions help in resolving any issues? Let us know in the comments below!
