Dimatik & LibeDime – Blackjack

February 8, 20202 min read

• Aggressive Psy-Trance Electro hybrid
• Majestic breakdown segment
• Cut-and-dried structure but energetic

There would be no disagreement about Psy-Trance’s involvement in live gigs, whether it be clubs or the leading festivals! The genus has spread widely over the years, having its modest roots in the underground scene until modern reformations. Various acts indulge in the creation of this genus of Dance music nowadays, and one such production has caught our attention. A team-up between the renowned Dimatik and an uprising name LibeDime, their newest offering “Blackjack” gambles with Electro and Trance, ultimately leaning to be an aggressive companion for any set.

For readers who have eagerly followed the Spinnin’ sub-imprint of Dharma Recordings, will recognise Dimatik with certainty. The Australian based musical act is notably known for “Punjabi”, a joint-effort with the headlining native figure Timmy Trumpet. LibeDime is a new name for us, however, he claims to be a multi-genre producer. The Greek musician’s discography happens to be tried and tested by major acts such as Armin van Buuren, Eximinds and Kyros.

Onto the instrumental, the brass-heavy war-horn marks its inception. Soon after, distorted and hulking saw synths take over the scene. Add to that, male vocal snippet supplement further aggression, as the riser ascends. The drop segment hits in, settling for the previous synth riff and triplet bassline. However, the schematics afterwards reveals a majestic breakdown, laden with cinematic strings and atmosphere. As a pleasant surprise, an electric guitar makes a surprising appearance just before the last climactic portion. Hovering with the energy, the drop jumps in with a similar force, making sure that listener appreciates its embedded intensity.

In overall, “Blackjack” sticks to a formulaic structure; appealing to the part of the audience preferring the festival genre. Overlooking this, the track, sure enough, gains the requisite points to make it worthy for a spin on any dance-floor.
