Lane 8 Introduces “No Phones” Tour

January 25, 20202 min read

It would take not an expert’s skill set to say that nine out of ten people from our audience are reading this very article on their smartphones. And why not? The convenience of reading it on a portable and handy contraption is much facile. Since the last decade, this once envisioned “palm-top” computers have taken over us with ruthless dominance. Music industry, being the forefront of the entertainment sector, is no exception.

Thanks to advent of Social Media, any event happening in whatever part of the globe, gets recorded or even streamed live. People who go to witness the festivals post snippets of the gigs they attend, either to flatter their online reputation or other trivial reasons. Obviously, this is a nuisance for many performing artists, who prepare their live-sets meticulously.

San Franciscan luminary Lane 8 expressed his plight last Tuesday on how these devices are capable of ruining the atmosphere, and hence for his latest “Brightest Lights” tour for his recent album, attendees will have their phone camera taped before entering the event. Further to implement this said regulation, extra security will be enforced. Anyone caught doing the otherwise, as per the talented act’s own words in writing, “will be removed from the show”.

What do you think about this decision? Let us know in the comments!
