Armin is on fire, there’s no doubt about that. After a great 2018, he smashed the scene again in the first half of the current year, delighting us with some of the bangers of this period. He is releasing a lot of tracks, but all of them are amazingly well-produced, which shows the talent and the creativity that this guy still has after lots of years in the industry.
Yes, yes, Big Room Trance is really cool and we can even say that Armin is its father, but, sometimes, he wants to return to his very first roots, and I’m glad he does it. “Cosmos” was released under his alias Rising Star, so, as we would expect, is a Trance song. Featuring the magical voice of Alexandra Badoi, the break is just heavenly, which is understandable considering the name of the track. He only needed a piano, some soft synths and the voice to create this part, which reminded me a bit of the Ludovico Einaudi essence.
There are no surprises afterwards. We expect strong kicks, bright Trance arpeggios, beautiful harmonies… And all those things are present in the drop. Even if you don’t like this genre, it can easily transport you to the outer space and make you fly among the stars in an endless “Cosmos”.
Trance was, is and will always be the kingdom of Armin. Even if he also touches some other genres, he can proudly say that the crown is still over his head. If he continues like this, I’m curious to see the quality of his music in 5 or 6 months.
