Protoculture & Mino Safy – Redemption

March 18, 20192 min read

• Anthemic, Gaia vibes
• Orchestral feels
• Massive combination of progressive & uplifting trance

WRITTEN BY OUR FAN ISHUKA. THANK YOU!

Protoculture is a hot-shot in the trance scene with hits like “The Descent“, “Pegasus” and “Waking Up The Stars“, even though he started off as a psy-trance artist in the early days under his alternative alias ‘Shadow Chronicles‘. He then entered Armada and ASOT imprint in 2011, along with Alex M.O.R.P.H. and Max Graham. Proving himself to be a flexible artist, he can easily fit into any genre. This time he teamed up with a rising talent in the scene, Mino Safy, who’s known for his orchestral vibes in his productions like “Quantum“, “A New Leaf” and “Nightfall“. He also got the opportunity to work with the artist responsible for the classic ‘1998‘, Binary Finary. This is Protoculture’s first collaboration in two years and has something different to offer.

“Redemption” has a brilliant rolling bass and uplifting pattern and scheme, even if the BPM is capped at 134. The rhythm also has a wobble in the background to give it a feel of power and intensity. This is then followed up by atmospheric sounds, giving us a reminder of “Gaia”. It is mesmerizing to hear a track that resembles them in some manner. The resemblance is also evident in the breakdown, but this time with the orchestral tinge backed up with angelic voices. As soon as this segment ends, we hear the main climax take over effectively, which is the uplifting leads and arps taking shape and providing the listeners with an extraordinary trancy feeling, elevating the experience to another level.

Overall this is a very solid joint-effort and once again, it’s lovely to see Protoculture collaborating with Mino Safy. We hope these artists get bigger day by day, release by release and see them take where the future lies.
