• Awesome vocal
• Emotional atmosphere
• Weak but interesting drop
Some people hate him and some people love him, but the fact is that he is the most known EDM producer out there, getting the #1 on the last 3 Dj Mag Top 100 lists. Can you guess the artist? Obviously, I’m talking about Martin Garrix.
The Dutch prodigy likes to experiment among lots of genres, but when he really shines is doing emotional stuff. As he did in “High On Life“, he teamed up again with Bonn to deliver us his latest creation, a softer tune than the one mentioned before, but with lots of feelings and positive vibes during the duration.
Putting my hands into the track itself, I just can say that the break is gorgeous. The vocal is outstanding and it suits really well the instrumental, crafting a dreamy atmosphere which is really enjoyable. Following a poppish structure, it doesn’t have a regular build up before the drop, but some claps and fx do a decent job hyping us for the drop.
The first time I listened to it I felt like the first drop was a bit harmless. However, after another couple of plays I started to appreciate the quality of the arrangement, understanding that the delicate violin melody and the harmonies where the soul of the drop. Unexpected, but really beautiful.
Having an enormous audience like the one he has, it’s really difficult to make all those people happy. Nevertheless, I think that Martin really hit it with “No Sleep”, because it’s not as an aggressive as a standard progressive release, but it is harder than a predictable pop one. I really hope to continue hearing more emotional stuff from this producer.
